Authorities say person shot by military security after attempted gate breach at JBSA-Fort Sam Houston

SAN ANTONIO – Military security shot a person after he tried to breach a door at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston on Saturday, base officials told KSAT.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Dunstan Road.

Military officials said the person attempted to force his way through Walters Gate.

Security officers chased the person and shot him with a gun, authorities said.

The person was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

It is unclear if the person is a military member of JBSA-Fort Sam Houston other than the extent of their injuries.

Military officials said the shooting is under investigation.
