8 -year -old boy shot and killed in Newark, says Essex County prosecutor’s office.

Newark, New Jersey (WABC) – An 8 -year -old boy was shot dead on Friday night in Newark, according to the Essex County prosecutor’s office.

It happened just after 5:30 pm in 170 Osborne Terrace, authorities said.

The Homicide Task Force of Essex County Prosecutors responded to the scene.

The 8 -year -old was declared dead at the University Hospital, authorities said.

The prosecutor’s office also said that an adult man also shot, but it is not known about his wounds.

The ECPO in the investigation and has not published information about a suspect at this time.
