New bill that compensate for schools for household services and hospital approved students

Frankfort, Ky. (WBKO) – The Permanent Committee of Primary and Secondary Education of the Representatives Chamber approved HB 132.

The bill, sponsored by representative Nick Wilson of Williamsburg, would allow schools to receive compensation for households and hospitals provided to a student who begins the first day of admission of a student in a hospital care center.

“There are times when students cannot attend school for a prolonged period due to chronic or serious diseases and conditions,” Wilson said in a statement. “Our school districts support their students and wish to provide educational services that offer students that they cannot attend school. Schools in my district are currently providing students without paying them. This legislation guarantees that the districts can provide these services from the first day of admission of a student to an installation and be compensated so that no student is left behind if they are ready and can learn. This is the right thing for our students and our teachers. “

HB 132 would modify the timeline for home and hospital education. According to the statement, schools must wait five days for compensation for instruction at home and hospital. This legislation would allow schools to begin compensation services from the first day of admission of a student.

Wilson says that students deserve to be treated and the school deserves to be compensated for the services they provide.

“If the student wants to learn and the school can provide the service, there is no reason for us to deny them the opportunity and compensation to allow students to continue their education,” Wilson added. “This legislation is an opportunity to demonstrate our support for our schools and students.”
