Sigourney Weaver names the most terrifying movie you have seen

Sigourney Weaver I spent almost 20 years playing papers designed to terrorize the public as Ellen Ripley in the Foreign franchise. Well, maybe not so much, after the start of the Ridley Scott series in 1979, the sequelae gradually passed from science fiction horror to action movies.

The first Foreign The film follows a traditional structure of the monstrous film. Looking at him for the first time, having heard the motto “in space, no one can hear you shout” (or see it in a poster in the theater if you have a certain age), you know the cast knowing that the majority, if not all, are convicted. Ripley is not the obvious survivor, which is what makes her special: the hero who does not realize is the protagonist until the end. And he was not even supposed to live.

This is not the case of sequelae, although some of them are, where you know that Ripley will reach the end. There is no sense of danger when he faces his xenomorph of thousandths. She does not die, and we know that she does not die, so they are going to do another. And another, as long as they are profitable and Sigourney Weaver has not been bored (what she did, eventually). Many of the sequel films such as Prometheus, Alien: Covenant and more recently Alien: Romulus have an analogous to Ripley, someone who will clearly survive the other characters. And they will say: “Get away from her, bitch!” At some point.

Weaver almost repeated the role of Ripley in 2018, although it failed. She had a cameo in The predator of the same year, however. He promised some type of franchise crossover sequel to Ripley Back from the Dead (again), but nothing seems to have come from it. But when it comes to Hollywood franchise films with a healthy and healthy IP, never tell the possibility.

For his part, Weaver said that the most terrifying movie he had seen was not in the Foreign sequence, old or new, but praised his 2024 co -star The gorge Anya Taylor-Joy for his work at David Eggers’ The witch In 2015.

Weaver said of The gorge That part of Anya is in the tradition of Jim Cameron, who always wanted to present women as these Kickass and Take-Care-Of-Business characters, “which could remember his experience slowly remodeling Ripley to an action hero. She continues to say: “I have seen Anya Taylor-Joy from The witchThat is scary, probably the most terrifying movie I’ve seen, and it was very fun to see it assume this type of part. ”

Fear is subjective. If something is terrifying, boring or simply uncomfortable and mysterious depends on the person who sees the film, the period of its launch and if the effects have become rancids or not. Eggers does not make fun or pleasant movies. But he is not famous for jumping scares, his films are destined to make you feel the weight of existential fear. To worry you. But for some, that is more scary than the slightly unlikely notion of being persecuted around a spacecraft through a monster.
