In the three -hour meeting, several issues related to public safety and coordination between the Government of Delhi and the Police were discussed.

“Shah ordered that the Delhi Police permit will not be required in matters related to the construction in Delhi,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement. Police officers who demand bribes for allowing illegal construction activities have been an important concern for the brass of the department over the years.

In 2014, the BSI police commissioner had noticed that the police did not have an inherent authority to stop any unauthorized construction on their own and had issued a circular that asked police officers to restrict their roles to be “eyes and ears” and only inform the municipal authorities about any illegality.

Highlighting the problems that travelers face due to persistent traffic jams, Shah asked the police commissioner and senior police officers of Delhi to “identify the places where there is a daily jam.” “He asked Arora, and the main secretary must meet and find a quick solution to this, so that the public can obtain relief,” said the Interior Ministry in a statement.

On the traffic problems that Delhiitas face during the Monzones, Shah told Delhi to prepare a ‘monsoonic action plan’ to deal with the flood identifying the places where the waterlogging occurs.

Shah also told officials that they should not only identify and deport the intruders of Bangladesh and Rohingya, but also act against the network that facilitates their entry and helps them obtain their documents and facilitates their stay.

In the threat of gangsters operating in Delhi and in the nearby regions, the Interior Minister said: “It should be the priority of the Delhi Police to eliminate interstate gangs in the national capital with a ruthless approach.”

Similarly, to dismantle drug smuggling networks in the city, Shah asked the police to “work with an approach from top to bottom and from below to face in cases of narcotics and dismantle all their network.”

Shah asked the Rekha Gupta administration to accelerate the elimination of Delhi 2020 riots. “The Delhi government should appoint special prosecutors so that these cases can be eliminated soon,” Shah said.

When solving other problems related to the law and order of citizens, Shah said that “DCP level officers must go to police stations and organize public hearings camps and solve public problems.”

Shah said that 25 security committees for the safety of women and children must be formed in pilot way in JJ Clusters and that the initiative can be carried out after seeing their results and effectiveness.

He also asked the Police to begin the recruitment process for additional positions soon.

Shah also ordered that strict measures be taken against police stations and subdivisions where officers “perform consistently badly.”

A superior officer in MHA, who asked not to be appointed, said that the Interior Minister can regularly hold meetings to review the implementation of his instructions as he wants results.
