Milei tells Kicillof to give up the province of Buenos Aires ‘Bloodbath’

In an extraordinary intervention in federal policy, President Javier Milei has asked the province of Buenos Aires Axel Kicillof to resign and allow the National Government to intervene in the operation of the region.

Milei, who seeks to score political points in the midst of more revelations of the so -called “cryptogate scandal,” said Kicillof is “incompetent” and does not address what he described as a “bloodbath” in the province of Buenos Aires.

The comments occur only a few days after Kim Gómez, seven years old, was killed in a robbery by car in La Plata, which led residents to take to the streets to demand greater security measures.

Gomez died after two thieves stole the car in which he was traveling and left without realizing that he remained in the car. She suffered fatal injuries in the incident when the assailants tried to expel from the vehicle while traveling at high speed.

The shocking case has revived the debate on insecurity in the areas of the province of Buenos Aires, especially the notorious ‘conurban’ ring surrounding the capital of the nation.

Milei, who received criticism this week when he launched an attempt to avoid Congress and impose two judges of the Supreme Court by decree, the case said in his call to the resignation of Kicillof.

The governor declared that the president “cannot solve the problem of insecurity” and should resign.

“If you are interested in the well -being of the people of Buenos Aires (province), leave the way (that is, resign) and intervene in the province. In a year we will end violence, ”said Milei.

“‘Since the province is a bloodbath … Our vision on how to address the problem is so different and clearly you cannot solve it,” said the head of state.

The leader of La Libertad progresses argued that the policies that painted the “criminals as victims” were responsible for violent crimes and accused Kicillof for promoting a “pro-critical doctrine.”

Speaking a day before, Kicillof recognized the horror of Gomez’s death, but warned against those who try to use the case to make political profits.

“Today is a sad day. I know that some people are using this to win a vote, to benefit from pain and see if they can get an advantage, ”said the governor.

Kicillof said “those responsible must be punished,” and added that “the response must be the support of the State.”

“All limits have been crossed. We have seen some political leaders do things that are not political, ”he said.

Provincial officials complained this week that the financing cuts of the National Government of Milei have left people in the region “abandoned.”

Opposition Peronists condemned Milei’s intervention, describing comments as an “absolute lack of respect for democracy.”

The National Justicialist Party, led by former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, said in a statement that Milei’s comments were a “serious” threat to democratic institutions.

Requesting the intervention of the national government shows an “absolute lack of respect for democracy,” said the party, criticizing the “state of despair of Milei against public and notorious scandals.”

“He is trying an institutional coup against the province and his governor Kicillof,” said a statement.

The regional chapter of the party, headed by legislator Máximo Kirchner, the son of Fernández de Kirchner, accused the government of using the crisis for electoral purposes.

“In a new act of institutional gravity, the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, in a new act of institutional gravity, urges the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, to resign his position to intervene in the province,” complained a statement.

“How far will the president of the delegated powers continue attacking the people of the province of Buenos Aires, who have democratically chosen their representatives?” concluded.
