The driver of the car involved in today’s incident is a 40-year-old German citizen from the nearby-Palatinated state, according to reports.

Thomas Strobl, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Mannheim of Baden-Würtborgg, was summoned by the German news agency DPA as confirming the nationality of the driver, although the police have only said that he believes that he acted alone and that they have it in custody.

“According to the current state of investigations, he is a lonely author who has already been arrested,” police said in an update previously.

“The indications of a second perpetrator cannot be confirmed at this time.”
