PM urged to intervene at a dead point of the 45 -hour work week

Kuala Lumpur: A senator has asked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to intervene and solve concerns about the controversial plan to implement a 45 -hour work week for health workers.

Senator Lingeshwaran R. Arunasalam said that additional plans to celebrate commitment sessions with interested parties on the subject are useless and that Anwar’s intervention is necessary to solve the stagnation.

“It has been made clear that the majority of the civil health force does not agree with this suggestion, and try to maintain more discussions is a waste of time. This should be attached to Anwar as soon as possible.

“We hope that the Department of Public Service and the Ministry of Health reconsider this proposal for the good of health and well -being of health workers in our country,” he said at a press conference held yesterday in Parliament.

Lingeshwaran, who was accompanied by representatives of other health workers unions, said they would only agree with the 45 -hour work week if flexibility is guaranteed in the periods of work in turn.

This comes after the planned work week of 45 hours for nurses, which was scheduled to enter into force on March 1, was suspended for three months in Parliament on February 25.

This decision occurred after the concerns were raised that the new 45 -hour work week under the public service remuneration system would cause an imbalance in working life and lead to mental health tension in health workers.
