Plastic surgeon accused of killing the lawyer long appeared before the judge

Clearwater, Florida. The plastic surgeon accused of killing a long lawyer appeared before a judge in Pinellas County Thursday morning.

Tomasz Kosowski faces a first -degree murder position for the death of Steven Cozzi, a long lawyer.

State prosecutors are looking for the death penalty. The policeman said that Kosowski killed Cozzi in his legal office in Largo in March 2023.

Police said Cozzi left his wallet, car keys and cell phone. The researchers also declared that Cozzi was never seen leaving the building or leaving their vehicle behind.

Researchers believe he was killed in the bathroom. The two were tied in a case of the Civil Court.

Kosowski’s defense lawyer presented a motion in January asking a judge to release the transcripts of the grand jury testimony.

The motion asked a judge to “carry out an inspection in the Chamber of Transcripts of the Testimony of the Grand Jury and, from then on, release the transcripts to the defense in the promotion of justice and determine whether there are material inconsistencies between the testimony of the grand jury and other jurized testimonies given in this case and/or determine if the testimony of the grand jury contained false representations.”

Judge Belone considered that motion in court on Thursday.

Prosecutors argued that at least 95% of witnesses in the case have been deposed and those statements are available for defense and the public.

“There has been no accusation anywhere that have testified inconsistently in any of those forms from March 21 to the present,” said the State.

Judge Joseph Bulone denied the motion of defense.

“I would grant his motion to inspect it because I think that in cases of death penalty, the intelligent is always to grant things with caution, but frankly I don’t even think this is close, so I’m going to deny the motion,” Judge Belone said.

The defense has also presented motions related to illegal searches of their home and vehicle. A judge is expected to listen to those motions at a later date.

The two parties are expected in the Court in mid -April.
